I wanted to tell you girls about common fashion rules, although some of these may be true, there is always a solution that can come in handy for it!
WEARING TWO BOLD COLORS AT ONCE
False! You can wear two bold colors, but make sure that the two bold colors complement each other. Also you can bring the two bold colors together by adding a neutral belt, it'll tie the two bold colors together perfectly. I'm also going to show you a picture of what I am talking about:
In this picture, the girls, well as the guys, are TOTALLY rock the bold look, and is perfect for summer! But if you are going to wear a neutral colored belt, then I recommend wearing a neutral pair of shoes with it.
WEARING TO MUCH OF ONE COLOR. . .
This is true, but you actually wear one color from top to bottom and still look chic. How?
Here Jayma Mays, is rocking the look! Its not impossible you know. The trick is that she is still wearing the same color, but she is wearing different shades of them. Her top is a more pale yellow, her blazer is a subtle yellow and her skirt is a sunset type. She also finished the outfit off with a nice necklace that complements the outfit. The second trick is that it helps to use different materials, such as: cotton, leather, silk and more! Make sure you keep this in mind otherwise you'll end up wearing one color.
Mixing Print on Print
This is absolutely false. Yesterday I was helping one of my good friends on stardoll with fashion and giving her some tips, and I came across with some stripy shorts and a dotted top. She said to me that the two patterns don't mix, well here is a trick for you girls.
One of my favorite things to do is mixing prints. But there is a way of doing it so you won't end up looking like a mess. Keep in mind that prints are already visually busy on its own. So you want to find a print that will complement the other print. One of my favorite things to do is to pair polka dots against stripes. You want to make sure one print (whether its the top or the bottom) is more dominant than the other.
Here the stripes are more bolder and larger. And the polka dots are smaller and softer. You want to make sure that both prints aren't fighting against each other, but are complementing one another.
Mixing Black and Navy Blue together
Another rule is that you can not pair black and navy together. This is false, although black is a very dark color, you have to keep in mind that black also serves as a neutral color. Just like: greys, beige, tans and creams. Neutrals serve as color to neutralize pieces and bring an outfit together. You can pair neutrals with just about any color and it will complement one another. So you if you know what that means, you can just about pair black with everything. So yes black and navy absolutely work together. Black and navy is also a great color combination to bring in to the fall and winter this year.
So the next time someone tells you fashion rules to go by. Make sure to let them know that some rules were meant to be broken. Remember no matter what people tell you, there is also a way to style it and make it your own.
